2022 Team Racing Series

Team Racing enters its second year in PCA Sim Racing with a new Series sponsor, Porsche Exchange. We are thrilled to have Porsche Exchange, a Premier Porsche dealership, to provide the action and excitement that team racing brings.

Porsche Exchange

For 2022, the Series starts with the Six Hours of Porsche Exchange on March 6th. The event will be run on iRacing’s Road America track and will feature 3 cars and 3 classes. Teams of up to 3 drivers will participate.

Most events are held just prior to iRacing’s 2022 Road Racing Special Events to give teams the opportunity to practice.

The Porsche Exchange Team Championship will consist of two Championship Classes: GT3 and GT4. Eligibility for the championship classes will be determined by the makeup of drivers on a team. Each team in the Championship Classes must be made up of three drivers who are already classified in the PCA Sim Racing league. The chart below details how to calculate what Championship Class a team will compete in based on its team members.

In addition to the Championship Classes, there will be a 3rd class, “Cup”, that will not earn points towards the overall championship. Cup is a completely OPEN class with no driver restrictions other than at least two drivers must compete on the team.

PCA Class Points
PCA Pro 4
PCA Club 3
PCA Sport 2
PCA Challenge 1

Porsche Exchange Class Splits
GT3 (Porsche 911 GT3 R) 3.0 to 4.0
GT4 (Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport) 1.0 to < 3.0
Cup (Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992) Open

How to Calculate Your Team’s Class

  1. Add up the PCA Class Points for each team member.
  2. Divide the total from item 1 above by total team members.
  3. compare the result to the Class split table above.

Teams are to be created using a lineup of three drivers.

iRacing’s fair share rule will be used for all races.

If your team is competing in GT3 or GT4, the same three drivers must be used for the entire season.

In the event that a team’s third driver cannot attend a race, that team may compete with the two available drivers. In no event will a team only be allowed to race with only one driver.

The open class provides a class for those teams that do not want to or cannot be bound by the above restrictions. Open class teams can field a team of 2-6 drivers at their leisure but must have at least 2 drivers for any given race. There is no requirement to keep the same team from race to race in the open class as no points are awarded for the season championship.

For teams that would otherwise be forced to drive the GT3 or GT4 against their will, the open class provides a choice with the Cup.

If you ran the 2021 Team Racing Series, just make sure your drivers are listed on your team and add them to the register channel on our Discord server. If your team has no changes from last year, and you can access the Team Racing League, you’re set.
