Some sensible advice from Major Chris Walsh!

What do you ensure you always do before a race?

Chris Walsh, “Always know your fuel strategy, if you plan to stop, triple check calculations and know the max you need and the min you need.  Run a full race stint, understand tire wear and if you will need to take them in the race.  Practice in the hardest conditions and know how to find that extra pace for qualifying.   Don’t drink to much water either.”


What do you ensure you always do in a race?

Chris Walsh, “Un-check tires and fuel, unless you need them.  Remind myself to stay calm, breath and focus on my line and pace.”


What do you recommend racers never do before a race?

Chris Walsh, “Don’t change your plan, stick with what you practiced and run it.  Adjusting things last minute that you haven’t prepared for can end in disaster.”


What do you recommend racers never do while in a race?

Chris Walsh, “Don’t over drive the car.  Lack of patience and pushing too hard too early will cause a wreck or cause a spin.”
